We're Not Alone In Cold Snap

First off, WDW4Brits would like to say a belated Happy New Year to everyone and wishes you a happy and healthy new year.

With the arctic conditions dominating the news lately your probably thinking of a nice warm florida holiday, perhaps you have one booked for the near future. Well, if you have one booked in the next few days you won't be escaping the cold just yet. Florida is currently experiencing some of the coldest temperatures ever, with night time temperatures getting below freezing. Some parts are even seeing snow fall with residents in central florida reporting snow flurries.

The winter of 2009/10 is sure to go down in history for many Floridians as one of the most memorable ones ever, not due to the economy but due to the shocking cold snap that’s hit a great many places across the globe. Many people—mostly those not from this beautiful state—associate Florida with beautiful summer weather: blue skies, warm breezes, and the like, but Florida also has some pretty severe weather at times.

So it looks like everywhere is currently seeing record lows and snowfall. Lets hope its all gone soon and Florida starts warming up again as most of us enjoy the warm temperatures seen year round in Orlando!

Roy E Disney Dies Age 79

A very sad day for all of us Disney fans as the nephew of Walt Disney (Roy Edward Disney) dies at the age of 79.

"His death follows follows a year-long battle with stomach cancer.

Roy Disney was a successful businessman, philanthropist, filmmaker and award-winning sailor, who played a key role in the revitalization of The Walt Disney Company and Disney's animation legacy.

He was associated with the company for 56 years, and from 1984 to 2003, served as vice-chairman of the company's board of directors and chairman of the studio's animation department. In recent years, he held the title of director emeritus and consultant to the company.

As head of Disney Animation, Disney helped to guide the studio to successes including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King.

He executive-produced Fantasia/2000, a sequel to the 1940 Disney classic.

Bob Iger, president and chief executive of The Walt Disney Company, said: "On behalf of everyone at Disney, we are saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague Roy E. Disney.

"He was much more than a valued 56-year company veteran - Roy's true passion and focus were preserving and building upon the amazing legacy of Disney animation that was started by his father and uncle.""

Online ADRs Now Live

The long awaited online dining reservation system has now been launched. You can reserve tables for restaurants at Disney online by navigating to their site.

It only works on the US Disney Site so for us Brits you will need to use this link to get onto the American Site - http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/?forceDomestic=true

Navigate to "Discover" on the top menu, hover over it and then select "Dining" on the right. Then you can select your restaurant and click "Make Your Reservation" on the left.

This will make it a lot easier for us to make dining reservations and will reduce our phone bills!
